ClawCamp runs on a clear role hierarchy. These are the people who set the vision, run events, and keep the network moving.
Senior Camp Director
Global vision & brand
Sets global vision and quality standards. Approves new Area Directors. Owns the ClawCamp brand. Signs off on global sponsorships.
Associate Director
Regional oversight
Manages a portfolio of regions or event types. Supports Area Directors. Handles escalations. Stewards the shared curriculum library.
Assistant Director
Operations & logistics
Supports Associate Directors. Coordinates cross-camp logistics. Manages global calendar and tooling (Luma, GitHub, website).
Area Director
Deep local networks
Owns a city or region. Recruits and supports local Camp Directors. Ensures quality across all camps in their area. Primary sponsor contact at the local level.
Camp Director
Community builders
Camp Directors are the organizers and leaders who run ClawCamp events in the field. They are the backbone of the network.
Unit Head
Event producers
Hosts and runs individual camp events end-to-end — venue, agenda, speakers, day-of production. Leads whatever format the event takes: workshop, demo day, unconference, hackathon, or online event.
Specialist
Subject matter experts
Owns a specific domain. Technical Specialists manage the AV and streaming infrastructure for online events. Curriculum Specialists develop and share workshop content. All Specialists contribute to the shared curriculum library.
Activity Leader
Teachers & founders
Runs a single session or activity within a camp — a workshop block, a Q&A, a hands-on build session. Creates their own curriculum and shares it with the network.
Unit Head in Training
First-timers
Shadows a Unit Head or Specialist at a minimum of two events before leading their own. Co-hosts but does not lead solo. The official on-ramp.
